APA 7: A/V Media

General Notes About Citing A/V Media

  • You no longer need to indicate in which format you watched a video in (DVD, streaming) unless the format provides additional information – i.e., an extended edition DVD. *This is new!*
  • For films, list the director as the author. If the director is not available, use other information to help someone locate the material, i.e., host, as in the first example.
  • For the in-text citation, only include the year, not the entire date.
  • If the citation ends with a URL, do not include the phrase “Retrieved from.” *This is new!*
