Theology
In its most rudimentary form, theology is the study of the nature of God and religious belief. As an academic discipline, it is concerned with analyzing the supernatural (in the form of deities), religious epistemology, and the question of revelation, which proceeds from the acceptance of deities as transcendent beings who interact with the natural world and reveal themselves to human beings. The underpinnings of theology--the human need to observe the natural world and ascribe meaning and order to it--are apparently as old as humanity itself, and as a result, theology remains a compelling and often controversial topic to this day.
The HFU Library has a collection of print books on theology that includes the writings of major theologians, critical approaches to theology, and the history of major debates on the existence and nature of God. Additionally, our digital resources provide students with up-to-date critical analysis of evolving themes and currents in theological research and thought.
