Nursing

Welcome: Doing research in Nursing

The HFU Library is fully staffed with librarians who are excited to help you find resources to tackle all your projects, assignments, and academic writing needs!

At HFU Library we have resources related to many topics including Nursing and the Health Sciences. All HFU resources are available to you online and off-campus. This guide will help you navigate these resources and choose the best materials for your research.

  • Find background information in eBooks, books, and trusted websites.
  • Learn how to evaluate the information you find on the web.
  • Search for journal articles and learn what makes an article "peer-reviewed."

First time researcher? Check out the Research at the Library Guide for general research guidance to help you get started and other related topics. Remember, the HFU librarians are always here to help! Email us at reference@holyfamily.edu, use the "Chat with a Librarian" widget on the right, schedule a one-on-one research consultation, or walk-in during library hours!

Research Steps

Before starting your research, take a few moments to think about your assignment.

  • What key words or phrases define your topic?
  • Can you list some synonyms?
  • What types of materials are you looking for?
  • Are you looking for the latest information or can you use sources published within the last ten years?
Spending a few minutes thinking about your topic will save you lots of time when you begin your research. For more information, see our Research - Choosing and Defining Your Topic page.
